About Dr. Ahmad Garrett-Price

Dr. Ahmad Garrett-Price hails from Tyler, Texas, and is a proud graduate of DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas.

He completed his undergraduate education at Morehouse College, majoring in Biology, graduating magna cum laude as an Oprah Winfrey Scholar. While at Morehouse, Ahmad competed as a student-athlete in soccer at the Division II level -- earning academic and athletic scholarships.

Upon graduating, Dr. Garrett-Price attended The University of Texas Southwestern Medical school. He was elected Vice President of the class of 2008 and subsequently earned a Doctorate of Medicine (MD).

He then attended residency at the Lonestar Family Medicine program in Conroe, Texas. Dr. Garrett-Price received comprehensive family medicine training in ambulatory care, adult medicine, adolescent care, general pediatrics, inpatient pediatrics, newborn care, inpatient care, critical care, and obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Garrett-Price had the distinct honor of being elected Chief Resident by his peers and senior medical staff. He took great joy educating fellow residents and medical students alike. In addition, he served as a resident Physician board member of the Conroe Medical Education Foundation during his final year of training.

Upon graduating residency, he pursued professional practice at Kaiser Permanente of Northern California, an organization led by Dr. Robert Pearl and subsequently the late and honorable Mr. Bernard Tyson. Kaiser Permanente serves as the largest integrated health system in California and is considered a national leader in healthcare delivery. While there, he managed a full patient panel in an innovative and dynamic multidisciplinary integrated care environment. In addition, he served as the local Physician Education lead and rounding Physician for Kaiser-affiliated nursing homes. He was subsequently elected to Senior Partner in July of 2016.

Dr. Garrett-Price transitioned back to his hometown of Dallas, Texas, where he served as Lead Physician for the first membership-based hybrid, Direct Care start-up practice in Texas' largest integrated health system.

Dr. Garrett-Price served as a voting committee member on several system-wide clinical leadership initiatives. This included maximizing the efficiency of the enterprise wide electronic health record and serving as an initial member of the Virtual Health Committee, helping to develop and pilot some for the first system-wide virtual health offerings. Furthermore, he served as an on-air and print media correspondent.
